Document Conversion Tool Smarkdown Removes All Pricing Tiers — Now Completely Free

Privacy-first converter with 25+ formats and 99.4% PDF compression goes free with v4.0.0

LONDON, 25 March 2026

LONDON, 25 March 2026 — Razormind has announced that Smarkdown, its privacy-first document conversion tool, has removed all pricing tiers and is now completely free to use with the release of version 4.0.0.

Smarkdown converts documents between more than 25 formats including PDF, DOCX, HTML, Markdown, EPUB and plain text. The tool processes all files entirely within the user's browser, meaning documents never leave the device and no data is transmitted to external servers.

The application's PDF compression capability has demonstrated significant file size reductions in real-world testing. A 102-megabyte PDF was compressed to 0.6 megabytes, a reduction of 99.4 per cent, without visible quality degradation. This client-side processing approach eliminates the privacy concerns associated with cloud-based conversion services that require users to upload sensitive documents to third-party servers.

Previously, Smarkdown operated with tiered pricing that restricted certain features and conversion limits to paid subscribers. Version 4.0.0 removes all such restrictions, making every feature available to every user at no cost.

"Document conversion should be a utility, not a subscription," said Gareth Ellis, Founder, Razormind. "We built Smarkdown because we needed a tool that respected user privacy and just worked. Making it free removes the last barrier to adoption."

The decision to remove pricing reflects a strategic shift toward building tools that serve as demonstration pieces for Razormind's broader technology capabilities. By offering Smarkdown without charge, the company gains visibility among users who may require more comprehensive digital services.

Smarkdown includes no tracking scripts, no analytics, no advertising and no upsell prompts. The application loads as a single-page web app and functions entirely offline after initial page load. Users can convert batches of documents without creating an account or providing any personal information.

The tool supports drag-and-drop file handling, batch processing of multiple documents and direct clipboard integration. Format detection is automatic, and output quality is optimised for each target format. The application is built with modern web technologies and works across all major browsers on desktop and mobile devices.

Smarkdown is available immediately at no cost with no registration required.

“Document conversion should be a utility, not a subscription. We built Smarkdown because we needed a tool that respected user privacy and just worked. Making it free removes the last barrier to adoption.”
